Dear John: Thank you for sending me the material. I reviewed it from
stem to stern.
I never have any quarrel with those who lay out some of the simple
participation ideas
Of A.A.
On the other hand, our focus is
definitely on getting people to do what Dr. Bob
Did: He qualified the newcomer. More often than not, he hospitalized the newcomer
At once. He had the earlier ones visit the newcomer one by one. He
himself visited the
Newcomer every day, talked with him at length, read the Bible with him,
and then
On the last day there were two requirements-all of which have been
documented.
First, he asked if the new man believed in God. DR. BOB and the Good
Oldtimers, 1 44
Second, he then asked the newcomer to get out of bed and on his knees; to pray
With Dr. Bob; and the accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. You
can verify
This by reading my title www.dickb.com/goldentext.shtml
and Mitch K.’s very
specific description of the salvation process.
In other words, once the drunk had convinced Bob that he was “ready”
(knew he was a drunk, convinced Bob he
conceded he was a drunk, and was ready to quit for good), the next step
was
to move him to God DR. BOB and the Good Oldtimers, 131.
I am having my son Ken send you some material which I hope you will find
Helpful and able to act upon.
Thanks again for writing.
